Guide Rod FAQ
Will a heavier guide rod reduce recoil?
It adds mass ahead of the grip, and many shooters report a slightly flatter, more settled feel. The effect is modest and works alongside — not instead of — the right recoil-spring weight for your load. Treat it as refinement, not a dramatic recoil cut.
Is it a drop-in install?
Yes. Field-strip the slide, swap the factory guide rod for the NDZ rod with your recoil spring, and reassemble. No gunsmithing, no permanent modification, and fully reversible to stock.
Do I need to change my recoil spring?
No. The guide rod and recoil spring are separate. You can reuse your OEM spring on the NDZ rod, or choose a spring weight tuned to your ammunition. The rod adds mass and rigidity; the spring tunes how the action cycles.
What is it made of?
Machined stainless steel, made in the USA — rigid, heat-tolerant, and far more durable than the polymer rods many pistols ship with.
